MachineSense Removal

Updated over 6 months ago

Here’s a simple, step-by-step guide for removing a MachineSense device from its fitted location and storing it safely until it’s ready to be reinstalled:

1. Turn off the device:

Make sure the device is fully powered down (machine engine off and all driver display lights off).

When fully connected, the MachineSense is powered from the Universal Power Adaptor which can usually be found on the rear screen of the machine.

The Universal Power Adaptor should be left attached to the machine with cap screwed on to protect the port, see image below.

2. Gather necessary tools:

Identify any tools you’ll need to remove the device, like a pair of side cutters or other specific items, and keep them handy.

Recommended tools include:

1 x 10mm spanner

1 x 13mm spanner

1 x 14mm spanner

1 x pair of side cutters (snips)

3. Remove connections carefully:

The MachineSense device has 2 cables which need to be disconnected.

3a. Unscrew the waterproof threaded nut from the UPA on the rear screen of the machine. (Circled Red)

3b. Unscrew the waterproof threaded nut from the Driver Display Bracket. (Circled Red)

3c. Using the 10mm spanner, remove the security leash from its fixed point but keep it attached to the MachineSense eyebolt.

TIP: Take note of how everything is connected, this will help when the device is refitted to a machine. You might want to take a picture for reference.

4. Gently remove the device:

Once everything is detached, using the moulded grab handle, lift the MachineSense device from its location. The magnets are quite strong so an assertive lift is required to remove the device from the roof or its foot pads. Avoid excessive force or twisting it to prevent damage. If the MachineSense has been fitted to a safety rail, simply undo all fastening nuts and bolts and remove the bracket and MachineSense device at the same time. Ensure all cables are detached at this stage.

WARNING: PLEASE TAKE CARE WHEN REMOVING THE DEVICE NOT TO TRAP FINGERS BETWEEN THE MACHINESENSE AND THE ROOF OF THE MACHINE.

5. Store in a safe place:

Place the MachineSense device in a clean, dry, and stable location whilst in storage. It is recommended that the device is placed in a box with its associated parts to save it from being damaged until it is re-deployed on a machine.

6. Keep parts together:

Store any screws, bolts, or smaller parts in a small bag or container and keep them with the device. Label the bag if it helps you remember where the parts go.

7. Label if needed:

If you’re storing multiple devices or have a specific re-deployment timeline, label the device with any useful details (like the date removed, or where it needs to be refitted).

When it’s time to refit the device, reverse the steps to reinstall it.

IF NO DEVICE IS BEING REFITTED, MAKE SURE THE PORT COVER CAP ON THE UNIVERSAL POWER ADAPTOR IS SCREWED IN PLACE TO AVOID MOISTURE INGRESS
