1. Know the roof types
Fitting Plinx MachineSense to Different Roof Types
Machines come with either plastic or metal roofs as standard. To ensure the Plinx MachineSense unit can be securely installed on either type, a couple of preparatory steps are necessary:
Identify the Roof Material:
Before fitting, confirm whether the machine has a plastic or metal roof. This may affect adhesion, grounding, or mounting technique.Surface Preparation:
Plastic Roofs: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free of oils or dust contaminants. Some plastics may require a primer or surface treatment to improve adhesion.
Metal Roofs: Clean the surface thoroughly. Ensure enough space is available. The MachineSense has magnetic feet and will connect to the roof easily.
Select the Appropriate Mounting Kit (if applicable):
Use the mounting solution recommended to ensure long-term durability and performance.
These steps help guarantee a reliable installation regardless of the roof type.

2. Plastic Roof Applications
Component List:
Qty | Product | Image/URL |
2 | Oval Plates |
|
1 | CTec - Grab and Bond |
Process Steps.
Step 1:
Connect plates across the adjacent magnets (shown below):
WARNING: THE MAGNETS ARE STRONG SO AVOID TRAPPING FINGERS BETWEEN THE OVAL PLATES AND THE MAGNETIC FEET WHEN CONNECTING
Step 2:
Apply adhesive across the width of each oval plate:

3. Attach the MachineSense
Step 1:
Ensure the roof surface is completely dry and free from any contaminants.
Step 2:
Turn the MachineSense device over and carefully place it on the designated area of the roof.
Step 3:
Press down firmly, then move the device from side to side to achieve maximum adhesion.
BE MINDFUL NOT TO TRAP ANY SECURITY OR POWER CABLES WHEN GLUING THE UNIT INTO PLACE. THE POWER CABLE MUST RUN TOWARDS THE FITTED UNIVERSAL POWER ADAPTOR (1M).
4. Metal Roof Applications:
Step 1:
Make sure the power cable can reach the Universal Power Adaptor without any obstructions.
Step 2:
Attach the MachineSense to the roof.
WARNING: THE MAGNETS ARE STRONG SO MAKE SURE FINGERS AND CABLES ARE NOT TRAPPED BETWEEN THE MACHINESENSE AND THE ROOF SURFACE WHEN LOWERING INTO PLACE
5. Route the Cables
Find the most appropriate route for the power cable coming from the MachineSense to the UPA and secure to other fixings or manufactured cables using zipties at suitable intervals.
6. Secure the MachineSense
The security leash should be attached to the MachineSense through the eyebolt and should be looped through a solid fix point on the body of the machine.

7. Attach the Driver Interface
Step 1:
Place the driver interface within the operator’s peripheral vision or in view, but make sure it doesn’t block the cab’s view.
Step 2:
Tighten the truss clamps securely to prevent the bracket from moving.
(A 13mm and a 14mm spanner will be required here)
Step 3:
Ensure the LED display faces inward so the operator can easily see any alerts.
8. Connect all cables
Using the 2m cable supplied. Connect the Driver Interface to the MachineSense. Insert the 90 degree plug into the port on the back of the LED screen and tighten the waterproof nut.
Run the cable up to the MachineSense on the roof and connect the straight plug into PORT 1 on the front face of the MachineSense device. Tighten the waterproof nut well.
9. Insert the main fuse
Once all connections have been made and the cables have been secured, plug in a 3A spade fuse to the in-line block attached to the main battery of the machine.
NOTE: ONCE CONNECTED, MAKE SURE THE FUSE BLOCK IS CLOSED TO AVOID MOISTURE INGRESS.
10. Test the System
Step 1:
Start the machine and run it for a few minutes to ensure the Machine Sense boots and connects properly.
Step 2:
When connected , the LED on the display will light up bright green. This process can take a few minutes.
