VisionKit Installation guide for machines
1. Overview
Plinx VisionKit is a ground breaking solution that brings visual intelligence to any machine type, transforming how operations are monitored and understood. Non-invasive yet highly informative, VisionKit provides live streaming capabilities where needed, while continuously delivering meaningful insights that help build a detailed picture of progress over time.
Designed with safety, sustainability, and productivity in mind, VisionKit acts as a set of 'eyes-on' for your operation. It offers real-time visual feedback during critical events, enabling rapid analysis and response. Crucially, it enhances situational awareness around machinery—helping to protect those working nearby and contributing to a safer, more efficient worksite.

3. Pre-Installation Checks
Ensure the machine is powered down.
Inspect and clean mounting surfaces.
Verify all parts are present and undamaged.
4. Component Placement
4.1 MachineSense Device
Location: Centre or side of the roof (external)
Mounting Method: Magnetic, (Metal roof)
Alternative Mounting Method: Machine has a plastic roof click HERE for guide
Note: Ensure a clear line of sight to the sky (for GPS connectivity).
4.2 Universal Power Adaptor
Location: External rear of cab, affixed to the rear window (within 1 metre of the MachineSense unit)
Mounting Method: Adhesive pad.
Ensure the UPA is level and stable.
Mount 'PLINX Ready' Sticker
4.3 VisionKit Interface Bracket
Location: External front left of cab, affixed to mirror arm or top of grab rail (Amalgamating tape may be required)
Mounting Method: Truss clamps
Ensure the LED screen is visible to the operator.
Secure and tidy cables (Avoid looping where possible)
5. Cable Routing and Connection
Universal Power Adaptor
The UPA is hardwired into the machines battery and ignition 'live' points and the fitment is covered in section 5.3
Camera and Driver Interface Configuration Summary
Both the camera and driver display are integrated into a bracket that is mounted to the mirror arm or grab rail of the machine. These two components are directly connected to the Camera Power Adaptor (CPA), which is itself secured to the bracket.
The connection configuration follows a linear arrangement:
The driver interface display is mounted vertically on the outer side of the CPA with the 2m cable connecting directly to PORT 1 on the MachineSense.
The camera is connected vertically on the inner side of the CPA, with its plug inserted into the lower port. The 2m cable connects directly into PORT 3 on the MachineSense.
5.1 MachineSense to UPA
Use the pre-fitted 1m cable to connect the MachineSense unit to the UPA port.
Tighten waterproof nut, secure with cable ties; avoid sharp bends or pinch points.
5.2 VisionKit Camera/Driver Display to MachineSense
Using the 2m cables (fitted), connect the Driver Interface to the MachineSense unit (PORT 1) and the VisionKit Camera to the MachineSense unit (PORT 3)
Fully tighten waterproof nuts, secure with cable ties; avoid sharp bends or pinch points.
5.3 Power Cable UPA to Battery
Cable Route: From UPA to the machine’s battery compartment. Tidy all cables.
Connection:
Red to Positive (+) via Inline fuse connector
Black to Ground (–)
Secure all cables to avoid loose ends or contact with moving parts.
5.4 Signal Cable (Green) to Fuse Board
Route the signal cable to the fuse board. Use extension core where required.
Use a fuse tap or connect inline via a spare accessory fuse slot (e.g., ignition).
Confirm fuse rating matches system specs (typically 2A–5A).
6. Camera Configuration and Checking
Camera Orientation and Securing Instructions
Set Orientation:
Position the camera so that the 'dot' on the camera body aligns with the horizon line, as illustrated.Default Lens Position:
Ensure the camera lens faces forward by default.Secure the Camera:
Primary Fastening: Tighten the clamp security bolt until the camera is firmly held in place and does not move.
Secondary Fastening: Tighten the M6 nut located at the rear of the security bolt to lock the camera's position.
7. Final Checks and Power-On
Double-check:
All cable connections are tight and insulated.
Mounts are secure and weather-sealed (for roof device).
UPA and MachineSense are within 1 metre of each other.
Driver display is fixed and visible
VisionKit camera is correctly oriented and clamp is secure.
REMEMBER - Driver Display cable connects to PORT 1 on the MachineSense and Camera cable connects to PORT 3 on the MachineSense.
Turn on the machine and verify:
LEDs are lit on the Driver Display (Green)
8. Troubleshooting Tips
Issue | Likely Cause | Solution |
No power to UPA | Loose battery connection | Check terminals, ensure polarity is correct |
Signal not registering | Signal wire not fused or connected | Check fuse board tap and continuity |
GPS not locking | Obstructed roof device | Move MachineSense to clearer location |
