What does the Base Station do?

The Base Station creates a secure wireless network that covers the site and surrounding areas. It communicates directly with TeamSense+, MachineSense+, and OperatorInterface+ devices, receiving location data to enable real-time situational awareness across the site.

Technology Overview

The Base Station delivers an ultra-low-latency Private 5G network, designed for high-frequency communication with connected devices. It maintains a local database of all device locations, ensuring crane operators and site personnel using TeamSense+ have continuous access to accurate, real-time positional information.

Operating on a licensed spectrum, the Private 5G network offers consistent and reliable performance. Internet access is tightly restricted through a network firewall, and all mission-critical communications are handled locally to ensure operational resilience and data security.

Base Station:

500mm (W) x 700mm (H) x 350mm (D)

Weight - 35KGs

Only one base station required per site, [Theoretical maximum coverage 20km]

Step 1: Securing the Module

The 5G Base Station comes with a security leash which must be attached prior to any lifting or mounting. Connect the leash through the designated eye-plate on the top of the module

WRAP THE EXCESS LEASH AROUND THE TOP BAR BEFORE CONNECTING BACK ON ITSELF TO AVOID SLACK AND PREVENTING THE LEASH TO SHEER.

Step 2: Lift and Hook

Lift the module ensuring correct orientation onto the top rail of the platform. Using the U-bolts supplied partially secure the module and allow the rail to take the weight. The U-bolts are fitted upwards to enable better access to the nylok nuts that require tightening.

Step 3: Fixing the Plate

The 5G module will lower towards the back plate that fixes to the lower rear section of the module. This plate will slide up and down to allow it to hook over the lower rail before securing with the supplied bolts.

ONCE ALL BOLTS ARE FITTED, TIGHTEN SUFFICIENTLY UNTIL THE MODULE SITS IN A VERTICAL POSITION IN THE CORRECT LOCATION ON THE RAILS.

Step 4: Connect the Antennae

Connect both antennae to the Base Station's designated ports. These ceramic antennae are fragile and must be handled with care during installation.

THE ANTENNAE MUST BE CONNECTED TO THE BASE STATION PRIOR TO ANY ELECTRICAL CONNECTION.

PLEASE HANDLE THE ANTENNAE WITH EXTREME CARE. DAMAGE TO THE ANTENNAE WILL STOP THE 5G MODULE FROM WORKING IMMEDIATELY.

Electrical Connection

Step 5: Connect to the DIN Rail

Install the DIN rail RCD (Residual Current Device) into an available space within the electrical cabinet.

Step 6: Make the Connection

Connect mains cable (from crane) into top of RCD. Connect the cable from the Base Station into the lower terminal of the RCD.

**Note** - GND connection will need to be made to an earthing point within the cabinet.
